Development of an Innovative Heat-Resistant Drilling Fluid System
Specialists from Omac Integrated LLP have successfully developed a high-temperature water-based drilling fluid system designed for drilling deep wells with bottomhole temperatures exceeding 180 °C, high hydrogen sulfide content, and elevated formation pressure.
The new formulation is based on advanced thermostable polymers and inhibitors, providing:
- Stability of drilling fluid properties under extreme temperatures,
- Effective filtration control and wellbore stability,
- Reliable equipment protection when operating in aggressive environments.
The solution has been developed considering real drilling conditions of complex wells in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, which allows:
- Increasing drilling efficiency and rate of penetration,
- Reducing non-productive events related to reagent thermal degradation,
- Optimizing costs for chemical materials and maintenance.
